Introduction to scientific work and writing for students of mechanical engineering

In cooperation with SchreibCenter, the Mechanical Engineering Department prepares its students for scientific writing. Participating in this class enables students to write their project reports and final theses more efficiently and more successfully.
The introduction has two formats: The basics of scientific work are taught in a lecture. In writing groups, the students consolidate what they have learned and apply it to their own writing projects.
In the writing groups, students work on their Bachelor's thesis hands-on, making it necessary for them to attend the course in parallel with writing their thesis. Therefore, students attend this coure regardless of which semester they are in.
Teaching Staff
The lecture is taught by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Samuel Schabel (Department of Mechanical Engineering) and Tom Hölting (né Ehrhardt) M.A. (SchreibCenter at the Language Resource Center). The writing groups are led by specially trained tutors and they meet regularly.
